“KT is playing a much more stable game than we are right now.”
The LG Twins’ lead atop the standings continues. LG won 8-4 in 12 extra innings against the SSG Landers in Incheon on Nov. 18, closing the gap to second place to eight games. In fact, they are getting closer and closer to winning the regular season title.
So far, SSG has been their most threatening competitor. SSG was in first place from the beginning of the season until the end of June, and they had the potential to repeat as the overall winners last year. However, LG rode the June wave, pushing SSG to second place and widening the gap even further.
The scary part is KT Wiz’s momentum. KT has risen from last place at the start of the season to third place, an unbelievable turnaround. After finishing 9th in April and 9th in May, KT rebounded with 15 wins and 8 losses in June and 13 wins and 6 losses in July.
In terms of team performance since the All-Star break, KT is 19-5, ahead of LG, which is 14-7. SSG has faltered in the second half of the season with a 9-13 record, but KT’s rise has been so impressive.
LG manager Yeom Kyung-yeop also commented on KT’s recent performance, saying, “They are playing a much more stable game than us right now.” “The first thing in baseball is starting baseball, and KT is starting baseball. When you have five pitchers throwing the sixth and seventh innings, it means that the team can be so stable. They are a good hitting team, so starting baseball is what will eventually lead to victory.” 안전놀이터
“KT was one of the favorites to win this year anyway. I was one of the people who picked KT as a favorite. Even when KT was down in the standings, I talked to coach Lee Kang-cheol, but I thought they would come back up. But they came up so well. They came up so fast,” he praised.
If SSG falls out of contention, KT could be the horse that stands in the way of LG’s title challenge. Their head-to-head record this season is tied at 5-5, and LG has been particularly vulnerable to KT’s Benjamin this year. This will be an exciting late-season showdown.
