Ben Simmons (27-Australia) is proclaiming that this season is different.
In a recent interview with ESPN, Simmons said he is excited to return to the court in 2023-24 and compete at a high level.
After missing the entire 21-22 season due to back surgery, Simmons returned for the 22-23 season, but was sidelined by another injury in February. He still showed hesitancy with his jumper, and averaged an elusive 6.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game. At this point, Simmons was a shadow of his former self with the Philadelphia 76ers, playing as a backup center without being able to fill the point guard role.
But Simmons was confident that this year would be different. Healthy again after a new back rehabilitation program, he expressed his desire to get the ball in his hands again as a point guard.
“I’ve been doing two-on-two drills for two weeks now and I’m getting a feel for it,” Simmons said of the contact drills, “There’s some things I do on the court, I’m relearning certain moves, certain plays that I used to do well,” indicating that he’s 100 percent and on his way to regaining his lost game.
“I’m excited because I know I can do it,” he said, adding, “I can’t wait to get back in the gym. I don’t care what people say, I’m a three-time All-Star, All-NBA team, (All-)Defensive team. I’m not a guy who hasn’t done anything.”
“It’s going to be great to be back on the court and dominate people, and it’s going to be fun to play the way the fans like to play,” he said, adding, “I’m not going to come back as the same player I was last season. I’m excited to see what they say about me back then.”
During his time in Philadelphia, Simmons was an all-around defender and a quality passer, even if his shooting was a major flaw. He was also quick to get up and down the court, giving the team an advantage on both ends of the floor in the open court. 토토사이트
Meanwhile, Brooklyn’s players and staff, including Mikal Bridges and Cam Thomas, are confident that Simmons will return to his old level. Now it’s time for Simmons to believe in himself and his health.
