Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min has expressed his excitement over the signing of Brennan Johnson.
“Son Heung-min has admitted that the Tottenham players are excited about the signing of Johnson from Nottingham Forest,” Football London reported on Thursday (June 4).
Tottenham lost star man Harry Kane to Bayern Munich for £100 million ($167.5 billion) in the summer transfer window. Needing a striker to minimize the void left by Kane, Spurs identified Nottingham’s Johnson as the right man for the job. Spurs signed Johnson for £47.5 million just before the transfer window closed.
Johnson is an all-rounder who can play both centrally and on the flanks, but his greatest strength is his pace. Last season, Johnson had the second highest top speed (36.7 km/h) behind Manchester City’s Kyle Walker, according to sports specialist Goal.com.
His goalscoring ability needs work, but it’s not bad. Johnson scored 16 goals and provided nine assists in 46 games in England’s second-tier Championship in the 2021/22 season, helping Nottingham win promotion to the EPL. In his first season in the EPL last season, he finished as Nottingham’s second-leading scorer behind Tywar Oweneye with eight goals and three assists in 38 games. Nottingham finished 16th to stay in the EPL.
“With Harry Kane not in the team, all the players have to take responsibility,” Son told Football London after the game against Burnley. He added: “Everyone is good enough to improve. We have good players, especially on the flanks, and we’ve brought in good players 온라인바카라. We’re very excited about it,” he said of Johnson.
Johnson was not included in the roster for the Burnley game as he had only just joined Tottenham. Johnson was named to the Welsh national team’s September A-match roster. Wales will face South Korea on Sept. 8 at Cardiff City Stadium in England. After the A-match, Tottenham will host Sheffield United in the fifth round of the EPL. It will be interesting to see how Johnson fares alongside Son Heung-min at Tottenham.
