Toronto stays in 3rd place in WC despite RYU loss…what’s next is more important

September 7, 2023 | by bookmeforphotographers.com

‘Korean Monster’ Ryu Hyun-jin (36) pitched well, but came up short. He was looking for his fourth straight individual win and his fourth straight team win, but it didn’t happen. Still, the Toronto Blue Jays remained in the third wild-card spot in the American League.

Ryu made his first start of the season on July 7 against the Oakland Athletics. He pitched five innings, giving up two runs on five hits and one walk with five strikeouts, but his offense went silent and he left the game with a 1-2 deficit. The Blue Jays fell to 2-5 and dropped their second game of the season.

It was a disappointing loss for both Ryu and the team. Ryu took the loss in his big league return, but has since won three straight. He has been consistently good. He pitched well in this game, too. He only gave up one home run, but it was a solid performance overall. However, the bats of Toronto’s batters, which had been hot the day before, suddenly cooled off, halting their winning streak. 안전놀이터

Toronto also saw its three-game winning streak come to an end. After taking the first two games of a three-game series against Oakland, which has the worst winning percentage in the majors, the A’s were unable to capitalize on the momentum as they lost the first game of the series to Hyun-Jin Ryu. Prior to the game, the offense had been on fire, scoring 47 runs in their last six games. However, they came up empty tonight and only scored two runs.

The same day, the fourth-place Texas Rangers fell to a 3-12 loss at home to the Houston Astros, leaving them in the same position for the American League Wild Card. The gap to the second-place Seattle Mariners widened to 1.5 games. The bloody wild-card war should continue.

Now it’s time to prepare for the most important 10-game stretch of the season. After a day off on the eighth, the team will be back in action on the ninth and tenth. First up is a three-game series at home against the Kansas City Royals. Kansas City is an underdog in the American League Central with a record of 44 wins and 97 losses. I’m looking for a sweep over the Royals in Kansas City.

They then face Texas. It’s a fateful three-game homestand for the American League wild card. Obviously, they need to perform well. Then they play a three-game series at home against the Boston Red Sox, a team they share the American League East with. The Red Sox need to put some distance between themselves and Boston so they can focus on the wild card fight.

Ryu is expected to pitch against Texas on the 13th and Boston on the 18th. Both games will be crucial and shouldn’t be missed. He’ll look to get back to winning ways with two home starts in a 10-game homestand that will be crucial in the standings.
