The Korean women’s soccer team will go for gold at the Hangzhou Asian Games (AG) when they face the Philippines. Leading the way will be Ji So-yeon, who will play her ‘150th’ A-match.
Head coach Colleen Bell’s women’s football team will take on the Philippines in their second Group E match of Hangzhou 2022 at 8:30 p.m. (ET) on Friday at Wenzhou Sports Center Stadium in Zhejiang, China.
Bell will start with Chu Hyo-Joo, Shim Seo-Yeon, Son Hwa-Yeon, Lee Min-A, Ji So-Yeon, Choi Yoo-Ri, Cheon Garam, Jang Seul-Ki, Kim Hye-Ri and Lee Eun-Young. Kim Jung-mi will be in goal. Jeon Eun-ha, Park Eun-sun, Moon Mi-ra, Moon Eun-joo, and Bae Ye-bin will wait on the bench. 토토사이트
Women’s soccer legend Ji So-yeon will play in her 150th career A match. She first donned the Korean flag at the 2006 Peace Queen Cup and has been the face of women’s soccer ever since. Her 68 goals in A matches is the most in South Korea, even including men’s soccer. Ji has scored more A-match goals than Cha Bum-geun (58), Hwang Sun-hong (50), and Son Heung-min (37). All eyes will be on Ji to record back-to-back goals in her 150th A-Match.
Belo Horizonte topped Group E with a 3-0 win over Myanmar on Sept. 22. Lee Eun-young, Ji So-yeon, and Jeon Jeon-ha scored goals in succession. Coach Bell named the same starting lineup as the previous match against the Philippines. The team is determined to continue the good form they showed against Myanmar.
If they can beat the Philippines, they will be able to book their place in the quarterfinals early. The 17-team women’s tournament is divided into five groups, with the top five teams in each group and the top three teams in the second group advancing to the quarterfinals. The first match of the day was between Myanmar and Hong Kong, with Myanmar earning a 1-0 victory.
In Group E, South Korea will face either the second-place team from Group D or the first-place team from Group C if they finish first. North Korea is the favorite to finish first in Group C, so we could see a North-South showdown in the quarterfinals.
