SK’s Oh Se-geun visits his hometown of Anyang after ‘teammate to enemy’ transfer

Oh Se-geun, who helped Anyang KGC (now Jeonggwanjang) win the integration title last season, visited his family for the first time since joining Seoul SK.

Osegun appeared in an SK jersey at the official opening game of the 2023-24 Jungkwanjang Professional Basketball League at Anyang Indoor Gymnasium on Nov. 21.

The franchise star, who has played exclusively for Anyang since his professional debut, made his first move to SK after the end of last season, signing a three-year contract with a total compensation of 750 million won (550 million won in salary and 200 million won in incentives).

At the time of his move, he said, “It was hard to think about leaving behind what I’ve accomplished in the past 12 years (at Ginseng Corporation), but I wanted to take on a new challenge with a new team.”

Coincidentally, Oh will be facing his old teammates in the opening game of the new season. The official opening match between SK and Jeonggwanjang was organized. The venue was the Anyang Indoor Gymnasium, a place that Oh has visited many times.

Oh had a special moment before the game. Jung Kwan-jang held a championship ring ceremony to commemorate last season’s victory, and Oh was in attendance.

He recreated the joy of winning by hugging his old teammates, including “Eternal Captain” Yang Hee-jong, who retired at the end of last season, as well as Omari Spellman and Daryl Monroe. Byun Jun-hyung and Han Seung-hee, who are currently serving in the military, were also in attendance.

The Jung Kwanjang team also presented a bouquet of flowers to Oh and wished him well in his new challenge. Jeonggwanjang’s home fans also gave him a hearty round of applause for his longtime support.

After a brief reunion with his former teammates, Oh went back to playing for SK and faced off against Jung Kwan-jang. While there were some awkward moments as he hadn’t played with the main players for a long time yet, he worked hard to get around the court and integrate into the team’s play. On the night, Oh scored eight points and grabbed five rebounds. SK went on to win 89-74, giving Osegun his first official game win. 굿모닝토토 도메인

After the game, Osegun said, “I didn’t feel much yesterday, but today I felt different when I entered the arena. I was nervous to see the Anyang fans,” he said. “I was grateful that they clapped and cheered loudly when I introduced the players. I couldn’t say goodbye to them properly after the game, but I’m grateful for their support.”
