SSG Kim Kwang-hyun made the most PS starts in history but was forced to retire due to injury

SSG Landers left-handed ace Kim Kwang-hyun became the KBO’s all-time leading postseason starter. Kim took the mound for the NC Dinos in Game 2 of the 2023 KBO League Semi-Final Playoffs (Semi-Po, best-of-five) at SSG Landers Field in Incheon on Wednesday.

In doing so, he surpassed former coach Jung Min-tae’s record of 18 starts in “fall baseball,” which he set while playing for the Pacific Dolphins and Hyundai Unicorns as an active player. Kwang-hyun made his 19th start of the season. 카지노사이트

However, Kim didn’t last long on the mound. In the top of the fourth inning, he was replaced by the second pitcher, Moon Seung-won, in the offensive rotation. This was due to an injury.

Kim Kwang-hyun had a gaping wound in the callus area of his left thumb, where he throws the ball. The coaching staff, including SSG head coach Kim Won-hyung, determined that Kwang-hyun was unable to pitch normally.

Kwang-hyun threw 65 pitches against the NC batters until the third inning, giving up four runs on five hits, two walks, one hit batter, and one strikeout.

The top of the first inning was tough for Kim. NC scored three runs on singles by Son Asub, Park Gun-woo, Jason Martin, Kwon Hee-dong and a sacrifice fly by Seo Ho-chul.

In the top of the second inning, walks became a problem. Kim Kwang-hyun gave up back-to-back singles to Son As-seob and Park Min-woo.

Park Gun-woo followed with an RBI single, giving Kwang-hyun his fourth run.

NC starting pitcher Song Myung-ki was also pulled after failing to complete five innings. In the bottom of the fourth inning with a 4-0 lead, Song gave up a two-run home run to Han Yoo-seom, who came to bat with the bases loaded.

Han Yoo-seom swung at the third pitch from Song Myung-ki and pulled it over the right field fence. The NC bench immediately pulled out a substitution.

Choi Sung-young came on as the second pitcher. Song threw 59 pitches in three innings, allowing two runs on two hits (one home run) with three walks and four strikeouts.

The two teams are in the middle of the fourth inning, with NC leading SSG 4-2.
