Ulsan on verge of title…29th win over Daegu will clinch second straight K League 1 title

October 28, 2023 | by bookmeforphotographers.com

Defending K League 1 champions Ulsan Hyundai have a chance to end a two-game losing streak early.

The second-place Pohang Steelers drew 1-1 with Jeonbuk Hyundai in the 35th round of the Hana OneQ K League 2023 on Monday at Jeonju World Cup Stadium.

Pohang’s failure to win on the day gave Hyundai a golden opportunity to clinch their second consecutive title with four games remaining.

Pohang remained at 15 wins, 15 draws and five losses (60 points), with a goal difference of seven points over Ulsan (67 points), which has played one game less. Ulsan needs just three points from its remaining matches to clinch the top spot on its own.

Ulsan’s second straight K League 1 title could be finalized as early as the 29th.

Ulsan will host Daegu FC in the 35th round of the K League 1 at 2 p.m. on Sept. 29 at the Munsu Football Stadium in Ulsan. If Ulsan wins against Daegu, it will improve its record to 21 wins, 7 draws and 7 losses (70 points) and extend its lead over Pohang to 10 points. 굿모닝토토 주소

If Ulsan loses all three of its remaining matches and Pohang goes undefeated, the first and second places will not change.

Ulsan rested key players such as Kim Young-kwon, Bako, Lee In-gyu, and Lee Cheong-yong for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League against Johor FC (Malaysia) on Nov. 24 in order to focus on winning the K League 1 title at the end of the season. Even without the starters, Ulsan managed to pick up a 3-1 victory and build momentum.

Meanwhile, even if Ulsan wins the title early in the 35th round, they won’t be celebrating the K League One title right away. According to the Korea Professional Football Association, the championship ceremony will be held at the season finale on Dec. 3 at Munsu Stadium in Ulsan.
