Kim Si-yoon (Jemulpo Broadcasting and Telecommunications) won the 8th Young Guns Match Play to secure his spot on the national team.

Kim defeated Park Gun-woong (Seogang High School) by two shots in the final round on the final day of the tournament at Dunescourse at Rabiebel Country Club in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province.

The Young Guns Match Play was established in 2015 to revitalize men’s golf in Korea and discover golf prospects, and since last year, it has become a prestigious tournament organized by the Korea Golf Association (KGA), which also serves as the final round of the 2024 men’s national team selection.

Kim was evenly matched with Park Gun-woong until the eighth hole, when the South Korean sprinted to victory from the ninth. After a bogey on the ninth (par-4), he took the hole from Park, and then took the 11th (par-4) to take a two-shot lead.

After dropping the 13th (par-5), Kim won the 14th (par-4) and 15th (par-3) to seal the victory on the 16th.

In a day of upsets that saw favorites and early national team selections Choi Jun-hee (3, Broadcasting and Telecommunications Center, Jemulpogo) and fifth-seeded Park Jae-hyun (3, Shinseongjoong) crash out of the round of 64 on the first day, Kim took advantage of the opportunity that came his way. With a KGA Ranking of 1164.8 (13th), Kim needed a win to be selected for next year’s national team.

The victory earned her 450 KGA Ranking Points and a last-minute ranking upset, securing her spot on the 2024 national golf team. This marks the eighth time that the winner of the tournament has been selected to play for the national team or national reserves the following year.

“I had the best year ever by winning the last tournament of the season,” said Kim, “and I will do my best to prepare well during the off-season so that I can grow into a great player.” 캡틴토토 주소

Kim will be eligible to play in the DB Insurance Korean Tour’s DB Insurance PromiOpen next season on the Korean Professional Golf Association (KPGA). He will also receive a scholarship, the opportunity to join Callaway Young Guns, Domino’s Pizza Patica, and Daily Dairy Celex product support.
