San Antonio’s two-option Devin Wassel takes a moment to rest.
The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Phoenix Suns 132-121 on Wednesday (Feb. 3) in the 2023-2024 NBA regular season at the Footprint Center in Phoenix.
The Spurs were led by 2023 No. 1 overall draft pick Victor Wambanyama, who finished with a double-double of 38 points and 10 rebounds to pace the team’s offense, as the Spurs took down the West favorite Phoenix, which is anchored by Kevin Durant and Devin Booker.
San Antonio, which blew a game-long lead in the previous meeting on Jan. 1 and handed Phoenix a loss on a Keldon Johnson jumper with 1.2 seconds left in the fourth quarter, won the game two days later to sweep a two-game series against Phoenix.
But San Antonio wasn’t done celebrating. Devin Wassell, who had been performing well as the team’s second option, went to the locker room at halftime with groin pain and did not play in the second half. 캡틴토토 주소
According to San Antonio, Vassell will undergo an MRI soon and the results will determine how long he will miss.
Vassell, who was selected by San Antonio with the 11th overall pick in the 2020 draft, has been a prolific scorer since college and has steadily improved his scoring average since his NBA debut.
Despite being limited to 38 games last season due to injury, Vassell averaged 18.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.6 assists on 38.7 percent shooting from three-point range, and was touted as the future of San Antonio, signing a massive five-year, $146 million contract before the season.
Starting alongside Wembanyama this season, he was averaging 19.4 points in the first five games, shooting 53.7 percent from the field and 40.7 percent from three-point range in the two-option role. But once again, injuries have gotten in his way.
