‘Winning consolidation in 5 years’: Will Asan Woori Bank build another dynasty?

It’s another change that needs to be handled well.
Woori Bank was the favorite to win the 2022-2023 season. When the lid was lifted, Woori was stronger than expected. They only lost once in the 17 games they played before the All-Star break, and finished first in the 2022-2023 regular season with a 25-5 record.
They swept Incheon Shinhan Bank in two games in the best-of-four playoffs, and then defeated Busan BNK Thumb in three games in the championship game. It was their first title in five years after the 2017-2018 season. They’re looking to build another dynasty.
Woori Bank was thirsty for a win, and ‘Danbee’ arrived
Woori Bank won its sixth consecutive title in the 2017-2018 season. However, in the 2018-2019 season, they failed to reach the championship game. And Lim Young-hee (now the coach of Asan Woori Bank), the main player of the Woori Bank dynasty, hung up his jersey.
Nevertheless, Woori never let go of the top spot in the regular season. Starting with the 2020-2021 season, they were the regular season champions for two consecutive seasons. 토토사이트
But that was only in the regular season. Woori’s dynasty mode disappeared in the playoffs. In particular, they lost the 2021-2022 championship in three games to the Cheongju KB Stars. It was Woori’s first championship sweep since Satellite took over as coach.
Just when Woori Bank was thirsty for a championship, “Danbi” came along. Kim Dan-bi (180 cm, F). Instead of playing for Incheon Shinhan Bank, where she had been for more than a decade since her debut, she wore a Woori uniform. With her offense and defense, she helped Woori Bank win its first title in five years.
Worried, but…
Woori Bank lost a lot after winning the 2022-2023 season. Park Hye-jin (178 cm, G), the anchor of the Woori dynasty, is no longer guaranteed to join the team for the 2023-2024 season due to injury, and Kim Jong-kyung (180 cm, F), who played well when it mattered, left for Bucheon Hana OneQ after becoming a free agent.
Kim Dan-bi and Park Ji-hyun (183 cm, G) were away at the Hangzhou Asian Games, and Go Ara (178 cm, F) and Lee Myung-kwan (173 cm, F), who were labeled as key backups, failed to step up. Kim Eun-sun (170 cm, G) is also still rehabbing.
There are positives. Yoo Seung-hee (175 cm, G), a former Shinhan Bank multi-player, joined the team. However, it will take time and trial and error to fully integrate into Woori’s offense. And to support Kim Dan-bi and Park Ji-hyun, she needs to improve her individual skills.
There are many insecurities. There are concerns. Plus, the rival Cheongju KB Stars have a healthy Park Ji-soo (196 cm, C). Woori’s competitive edge has been weakened.
However, Woori’s centerpiece is solid. Woori is also looking ahead to the 2023-2024 season. The team’s dynastic history cannot be ignored. If all the positives come together, Woori could be at the top of the table in 2023-2024. If that happens, Woori can build another ‘dynasty’.
