The LG Twins keep the momentum going with a win in Game 2. Im Chan-kyu will take the mound for Game 3.

LG and KT Wiz will face off in Game 3 of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League Korean Series (KS) at KT Wiz Park in Suwon, South Korea, on April 10.

LG manager Yoon Kyung-yeop announced Im Chan-kyu as the starter for Game 3 immediately after the conclusion of Game 2 of the Korean Series at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on April 8. Lee Kang-cheol also announced that Wes Benjamin will start.

A dramatic Game 2 win the day before

Game 2 didn’t start well for LG. In the top of the first inning, Choi Won-tae went down early. After walking the leadoff batter, Kim Sang-soo, Choi gave up a single to Hwang Jae-gyun. He then gave up a walk to Alford to load the bases. Park Byung-ho’s subsequent grounder to the third baseman threw the leadoff man out at home, but he gave up a double to left field to Jang Sung-woo, giving up two runs too easily.

The judgment of the LG bench at the time was to make quick changes. Choi Won-tae, who was brought in midseason in a trade that called for Winnow, and Yoon Kyung-yeop, who was touted as “the final piece of the puzzle to win the championship,” were unable to do their job. LG’s mistakes didn’t end there. Changed pitcher Lee Jung-yong gave up a single to left-center field, which allowed all the runners to reach base, and the score was 0-4.

In the bottom of the first inning, LG’s comeback seemed to begin. One out later, Park Hae-min singled up the middle. After Kim Hyun-soo walked and Austin singled to right, LG had runners on second and third. However, LG was unable to score as Oh Ji-hwan grounded out to the first baseman. LG finally struck back in the third inning. Shin Min-jae led off with a single to right field off a Cuevas fastball. However, when Hong Chang-ki came to bat, he was thrown out trying to steal. Hong then drew a walk to load the bases. Park Hae-min was then hit by a pitch and reached base on an infield single. When Kim Hyun-soo hit a grounder to the first baseman, Park Hae-min was forced out at second and Kim Hyun-soo was safe at first. 카지노사이트

And then Austin did it. With runners on first and third, Austin lined a single to left to keep the 1-4 lead alive. However, LG was unable to add another run as Oh Ji-hwan retired the next batter on a fly ball to right field. In the sixth inning, LG scored another run. After a walk to Park Hae-min, Kim Hyun-soo hit a two-run double to right field to cut the deficit to 3-4 in the seventh inning. In the bottom of the eighth, LG finally broke through. After leading off with a walk, Moon Bo-kyung laid down a sacrifice bunt to put runners on first and second.

Park Dong-won stepped up to the plate. Park took advantage of KT’s Park Young-hyun’s changeup and smashed it over the left-center field fence for a massive 125-meter home run. This gave LG a 5-4 lead. In the bottom of the ninth, Go Woo-seok, who had given up the game-winning hit the day before, came in and got a triple play to end the inning, securing LG’s first win in the Korean Series.

LG’s momentum ‘continues’ vs KT’s momentum ‘reverses’

Im Chan-kyu took the mound in Game 3 and was asked to pitch a lot of innings. With Choi Won-tae collapsing early in Game 2, LG used a lot of their bullpen on “bullpen day,” which meant that their stamina dropped, and the burden fell heavily on Im’s shoulders.

Im has had a career-high season this year with a 14-3 record and a 3.43 ERA, and his 14 wins are the most by a homegrown pitcher this season. His form this year was incredible.

However, Lim struggled a bit against KT in the regular season this year. He went 1-1 with a 6.61 ERA in four games against KT. KT leadoff man Kim Sang-soo was the strongest against Im with a .571 batting average. Hwang Jae-gyun also had a strong showing with a .500 batting average.

In contrast, KT’s Benjamin went 15-6 with a 3.54 ERA in 29 regular-season games. Notably, Benjamin was making his first start in five days after pitching in Game 5 of the playoffs against the NC Dinos. In that game, Benjamin pitched five innings of two-run ball to secure KT’s victory.

Benjamin has also been strong for LG this season. He is 4-0 with a 0.84 ERA in five starts for LG. In addition, LG’s top three hitters – Hong Chang-ki, Park Hae-min, and Oh Ji-hwan – are all batting just .167 (2-for-12) against Benjamin this season. The No. 3 hitter Kim Hyun-soo was batting .182 (2-for-11), Moon Bo-kyung was 1-for-10 with a .100 average, and Moon Sung-joo, who had been hitting well the day before, was 0-for-7.

A win in Game 3 will give them a chance to regain the series lead. It will be interesting to see if LG or KT can pull off the upset.
