Leverkusen’s ’42 games unbeaten’ streak continues… ‘Hoffman 1 goal 1 help’ to defeat West Ham 2-0!

Leverkusen continued its undefeated record in official matches. It has not lost in 42 matches (37 wins and 5 draws) since the opening of the season.

Leverkusen defeated West Ham United 2-0 in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League quarterfinals in the 2023-24 season held at the Bayer Arena in Leverkusen, Germany, at 4 a.m. on Tuesday (Korea time). Now the two teams will play their second game at home to West Ham.

Leverkusen operated a 3-4-3 formation on the day. Adri, Shik, and Birtz were at the front line, while Grimaldo, Xhaka, Palacios, and Frimpong played midfielders. Topsoba, Ta, and Stanisic worked together for the three backs, and Kovar wore goalie gloves.

Leverkusen created a good scene again. Grimaldo fired a powerful left-footed mid-range shot from outside the penalty box in the 20th minute, but goalkeeper Fabianski threw himself to block it. Again, it was Fabianski. In the 30th minute of the first half, Szik sensibly turned around in the penalty box and attempted a left-footed shot, but Fabianski reached out to block it.

Leverkusen launched an offensive. Topsoba shot from outside the penalty box in the 34th minute of the first half, but goalkeeper Fabianski caught it. West Ham launched an attack for the first time in a long time. After receiving the ball from the back in the 36th minute of the first half, Antonio pushed it to the end. Leverkusen made a change in the middle of the second half. In the 22nd minute of the second half, Stanisic and Frimpong went out, Incapier and Telah were put in. West Ham overcame the crisis. Leverkusen sealed the net. In the second half, he quickly developed a corner kick in the first minute of extra time, and Hoffman scored an accurate cross. Boniface finished with a header. In the end, the game between the two teams ended with Leverkusen’s victory.
