“Bull” Hwang Hee-chan (28, Wolverhampton) had his best season and returned to gold.

Wolverhampton lost 0-2 to Liverpool in the final 38th round of the Premier League on Tuesday. Wolverhampton finished the season ranking 14th.

Coach Jurgen Klopp’s farewell match drew attention. Hwang Hee-chan started as a Wolverhampton striker and played 62 minutes. He failed to add a goal.

Hwang Hee-chan scored his 12th goal in the league and finished the season ranking 15th. It is the first time for a Korean player to score double-digit goals in the Premier League since Son Heung-min. Including all matches in this season, the number of goals has reached 13. Hwang has elevated himself to the level of a top-notch striker in the Premier League.

There is also a lot of regret. Hwang Hee-chan was away from his team for a long time as he played at the Asian Cup 안전놀이터. To make matters worse, he couldn’t play many games due to a recurrence of a hamstring injury. Hwang Hee-chan played only 29 games. Better performances were possible without injuries.

Hwang Hee-chan returned to Korea via Incheon International Airport on Sunday. “I scored 12 goals in the EPL, and it wasn’t a bad season. Through this season, I gained more confidence and motivation to do better,” Hwang said.

Hwang Hee-chan scored 20 Premier League goals overall, surpassing Park Ji-sung’s 19. “Park Ji-sung is the person who made me dream of becoming a member of the EPL and the national team. I am so honored and happy to surpass that record. I was proud of myself,” he said.

Now Hwang Hee-chan is taking a break in Korea. Hwang posted a picture of himself playing in the water on his SNS account on Tuesday. Hwang enjoyed his early vacation in the valley wearing sunglasses and taking off his top.

Having enjoyed his best season, Hwang Hee-chan will join the national team in early June. The Korean national team, which has been appointed as interim coach Kim Do-hoon, will play away games in Singapore on June 6 and home games against China on June 11.
