Legend is leaving again…Director Yeom Ki-hoon resigns voluntarily

Suwon Samsung coach Yeom Ki-hoon put down the baton to take responsibility for the poor performance.

Suwon recently lost 1-3 in the 15th round of the Hana Bank K League 2 2024 against Seoul E-Land at Suwon World Cup Stadium on the 25th, losing five consecutive games.

Suwon took the lead with Mulic’s opening goal at the end of the first half, but began to crumble after allowing Lee Dong-ryul an equalizer in the 40th minute of the second half. In stoppage time, they were beaten back by Park Min-seo and Lee’s mid-range shot again, recording a lie-like upset.

Suwon already bowed its head in all of its matches held in May after losing five consecutive games. It maintained its sixth place in the league with 19 points.

Responsibility for consecutive losses eventually led to Yeom’s voluntary resignation. According to the club, Yeom expressed his intention to voluntarily resign to Suwon general manager Park Kyung-hoon after losing the match against Seoul E-Land. Park accepted the offer after much consideration and told the fans the situation in front of the bus-blocking fans. Yeom also bowed to the fans once again.

As a result, Suwon has broken up with “legend” once again. Suwon entered the season as coach Lee Byung-geun last year, but they already accompanied him as his performance deteriorated. Acting coach Choi Sung-yong, who took over the baton, also left the club when Kim Byung-soo was appointed after leading the team for a short period of time.

Yeom took over as acting coach after Kim was also dismissed for poor performance. Yeom did not prevent his team from being demoted as a result, but the club showed faith by choosing to accompany him.

In particular, Suwon general manager Park Kyung-hoon expressed faith in the team, saying, “Now is the time to give strength to the coach,” even though the team has lost consecutive games this season. He also drew a firm line on the rumor that the team will be replaced after the defeat at Asan in South Chungcheong Province. He also stressed that he would not allow chaotic management in which four coaches were assigned the baton last year alone.

However, fans’ public sentiment was cold, and as a result, Yeom decided to voluntarily resign, Suwon will suffer from the coach’s atrocities once again. Yeom reportedly told fans of his voluntary resignation and asked for support. At the helm of Suwon, Yeom had nine wins, three draws and nine losses in the K League 1 and K League 2. 스포츠토토

“The club will decide on a replacement as soon as possible,” a source at the Suwon club told this newspaper in a telephone interview after the defeat against Seoul E-Land. He also said that he would take a cautious approach to acting coach or reorganizing the team immediately.

Suwon is set to play an away game against another promotion rival Busan I-Park on June 2.
