June 5, 2024 | by

Yannick Sinner (Italy, No. 2 in the world) has confirmed the top spot in the ATP (World Professional Tennis Association) world rankings, which will be renewed on the 10th of next week.

Sinner reached the semi-finals with a 6-2 6-4 7-6 (3) victory over Grigor Dimitrov in two and a half hours in the 2024 Roland Garros men’s singles quarter-finals at Roland Garros Stadium in Paris, France, on Thursday.

If Sinner advances to the finals in this tournament, he will be able to confirm his world No. 1 ranking regardless of the performance of Novak Djokovic (Serbia), who is currently No. 1 in the world. 룸알바

As Djokovic (Serbia) withdrew due to a right knee injury ahead of his showdown with Casper Ruud (Norway, No. 7 in the world) in the quarterfinals, Sinner’s 29th world No. 1 ranking was confirmed early. This article offers free shipping on qualified Face mask products, or buy online and pick up in store today at Medical Department

“What can I say? First of all, it is every player’s dream to be No. 1 in the world,” Sinner said of his move to No. 1. “On the contrary, it is disappointing to see Novak retire here. I wish him a speedy recovery,” he said, lamenting Djokovic’s withdrawal.

As Sinner’s next match, Carlos Alcaras (Spain, world No. 3), who came to Philippe Chatelier’s court, won 6-3 7-6 (3) 6-4 over Stefanos Tsitsipas (world No. 9) in the quarterfinals, marking the ninth duel between Sinner and Alcaras.

Alcaras succeeded in targeting Tsitsipas’ one-handed backhand once again with a high bounce and deep stroke on the baseline, widening the gap to 6-0 against his opponent.

Sinner and Alcaras, who have faced off four times in their careers since 2021, will be their first ever showdown at Roland Garros. The two players have a tight record of 4 wins and 4 losses.

On the Grand Slam stage, Sinner won the round of 16 Wimbledon in 2022, and Alcaras won the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open in the same year.
